How to Find Best Selling Items on eBay in Hot Niches

Firstly my apologies for not adding a post to my blog for over a month. I got caught up in the Volcanic Ash chaos as I was on holiday in Portugal at the time and now I am playing catch-up!

So here are some quick tips to help you find what to sell on eBay.

One thing that will guarantee your success or failure as you launch into an eBay selling career is your ability to find the biggest selling items on eBay within the hottest niches. Note that it’s not simply finding the biggest selling items full stop; clothing, electronics and antiques may be statistically the biggest selling items on eBay, but they are also the most competitive markets to sell into. Therefore it is also crucially important to identify the best niches in which to sell, as well as the best products within those niches.

Fortunately you are not altogether alone in your hunt for said products. There are many different resources available to help you to discover how to maximise your profits by selling the best things. We’re going to consider some of them now and dig into how best to use them for your personal gain.

eBay Pulse – Head over to this subpage of eBay in order to discover exactly what terms people are searching for in what categories. This is one of the best ways to determine what the public is actually looking for, opposed to what you think they are looking for. Remember that you aren’t looking for the top selling items as these have the most competition, so drill deeply into the different categories to find products that are selling.

Advanced Search – When you have an idea of a potential product from eBay Pulse, use the Advanced Search to discover how many of these products are actually selling. You can do this by researching the completed listings and seeing how much they have sold for, how many of them have sold and much more.

Amazon – Although we are looking for the biggest selling items on eBay, you should also be aware that similar trends can be identified in massive selling websites such as Amazon. Start typing your product into the Amazon search bar, if it is a frequently searched term the search engine will start to complete it for you, highlighting that people are looking for this product across the internet.

The best way to identify products that continually sell well on eBay is through a long research programme. If you have the patience to monitor and record the best-selling products within certain niches every day for a few months, you will start to become aware of the items that maintain their sales over time. However, sometimes the best way to learn is by giving things a go.

One of the largest mistakes that eBay sellers make is by jumping in with a product that they think is one of the biggest selling items on eBay, buying a huge stack of them, only to learn that they can’t unload them at a profit. Before making a large purchase, test the water with a few examples of the product to learn whether you are making sales, and how much profit per unit you are making. Before you know it your sales will be ramping up and you’ll be increasing your profit margins.
